One of the main challenges in recruiting due to COVID-19 is structured job interviews and to organize other process steps contactlessly and regardless of location.
The identification and (pre-)selection of candidates can be achieved relatively easily through e-recruiting measures and with the help of pre-qualification platforms such as flynne implement digitally.
Things become more complicated in process steps that previously required a physical meeting between applicant and recruiter – especially interviews.
One possible solution is video interviews via desktop or mobile device. Messenger services such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, for example, enable video calls via smartphone or tablet in which several people can participate at the same time. The apps are widely used, so that a large number of applicants can communicate via these tools without any additional effort. Video platforms such as Skype or Jitsi can also be used.
Further steps in the application process can also be organized completely digitally. Candidates can, for example, identify themselves using online ID procedures and sign or submit contract documents electronically. The implementation of induction and OnboardingRemote recruiters can use video tutorials and conferences or special digital solutions such as the SAP Success Actor “Onboarding” module also available from any location.

Of course, we would also like to mention the challenges for remote recruiters in filling vacant jobs from the home office or at least via purely digital channels.
Safety measures to protect health are a top priority due to the current threat posed by the corona virus. However, this does not have to slow down recruiting - there are numerous, albeit unconventional, ways to implement remote recruiting. As we all know, special circumstances require special measures.
